According to dhb.de, Uwe Gensheimer and Steffen Weinhold will no longer play for the German national team. The veterans made such decisions after the Tokyo Olympics.

Gensheimer has been captain of the national team since 2014. As part of the national team, he became the bronze medalist of the Games in Rio. In 204 matches in the form of “Bundesmannschaft” Gensheimer has scored 921 goals.

Weinhold made his national team debut in 2008. During this time, he played 137 matches and scored 336 goals. The welterweight became the 2016 European champion. Also in his collection is the bronze of the Games in Rio.

In turn, after the Tokyo Olympics, 30-year-old lineman Hendrik Pekeler took a break from playing for the national team. He wants to devote more time to his family. 38-year-old goalkeeper Johannes Bitter has also stopped being a national team player. But he has an agreement with the team’s helmsman Alfred Gislason that, if necessary, the goalie can again put on the uniform of the national team.

Mikkael Appelgren has another knee surgery

Mikkael Appelgren will be out of the handball for a long period ahead of us. The Swedish goalkeeper from Rhein Neckar Lowen had to repeat knee surgery in order to make his condition better and get back to proffesional handball.

  • I would have loved to post something about my comeback, finally being able to catch that ball with my hands again. Or atleast something funny with the flamingo on the floor… 🤾🏼‍♀️🦩
Sadly, my facial expression is the one I can relate to most. After a looooong (far to long) period of hope and despair, my knee still does not allow much workload or any at all. 🦵
Another surgery is needed to fix my right knee, I feel frustrated, exhausted and broken. 💔 But I have to come to terms with it and find the energy to set another setback straight. I really hope the last wrong turn on the journey back to the handball court is corrected. 💉🔧🪚🩹

After a debut in his native country, at Redbergslids IK which he won the league, Andreas Palicka played 196 games in seven seasons for legendary club THW Kiel in the Bundesliga. With the German team, Andreas won the Champions League in 2010 and 2012 and the Superglobe in 2011.

The Swedish goalkeeper then moved to Denmark and joined the Aalborg Handbold, where he spent a season and won the national title, before returning to the German league, this time with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.

With the Swedish national team, Andreas Palicka won the silver medal at the World Championship, last January. He was named best goalkeeper of the competition. He was also a finalist with his national team at the 2018 European Championship.

“Joining a great club like Paris Saint-Germain is a decisive moment in my career,” said Andreas Palicka after signing his contract. “The Club has proven its consistency at the highest level in recent years, with several appearances in the Final Four and numerous championship titles. I am looking forward to wearing the shirt and helping the team achieve its goals.”

MVP of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Mathias Gidsel, will join Fuchse Berlin in summer 2022. The Danish right back, member of GOG, has signed three years contract with the team from German capital.

Sports director Stefan Kretzschmar: “I’m looking forward to one of the greatest talents of our time. He’s an incredibly clever player who makes few mistakes. It will be good for our play culture and form a great trio with Fabi Wiede and Nils Lichtlein. I am proud that he chose us despite many offers. He has his heart in the right place and is a great guy. In addition, my absolute dream player, whom we have been working on for a long time. We really wanted him and that was the decisive factor in the end. ”

Coach Jaron Siewert: “He is a player who has aroused a lot of desire and we, but especially me as a coach, are very happy that we succeeded in this spectacular transfer. It fits perfectly into our playing philosophy and has all the attributes that help us as Füchse Berlin to keep attacking the top. ”

Managing Director Bob Hanning: “This is one of the most beautiful days for me as Managing Director of Füchse Berlin, because we managed to bring Mathias Gidsel to Berlin against what is arguably the highest and best-endowed national and international competition. His appearance at the Füchse Berlin office with the sentence that he wanted to join an association that has to do more to achieve great success than others shows his attitude, which we can already look forward to in Berlin. Stefan Kretzschmar’s persistence in the implementation of the transfers Max Darj and Mathias Gidsel show how valuable he is for the club. ”

Mathias Gidsel: “The Bundesliga is the strongest league in the world and I made a conscious decision in favor of Füchse Berlin because I was enthusiastic about the concept and it will be fun to develop with this team.”

The team captain of Telekom Veszprém for the upcoming 2021/22 season is Rasmus Lauge, the vice-captains are Máté Lékai and Andreas Nilsson. This trio is appointed by head-coach Momir Ilic.
According to our captain, Rasmus Lauge, it is a great joy and honour to be named a leader of the team. We asked about his new appointment, the upcoming challenges and his role within the team.
For me, being the captain of Telekom Veszprém, is a great joy and honour; this is a huge milestone in my Veszprém career. The last time we spoke, my personality came up, how I view myself and I mentioned how I want to lead by example, with my attitude and determination. I am delighted, that now I can do all these things as team captain. Now comes the first, most important step for me, our first step if you like; which is making my comeback to the pitch. I don’t plan to change anything about myself. I only want to help the team, with an extra dose of motivation, to get back on the right path, back to winning ways.
